Masonic Temple Detroit ~ Jamie + Seggie 8/23/14
The groom, Seggie, contacted You’re The Bride in March with interest in our Day-of Coordination and Rehearsal services. Since the couple lived in Los Angeles, Melissa and Tracie set up a Skype session to meet the couple and discuss their wedding needs. We had a great conversation and since Tracie was not available personally, Melissa managed the wedding details for the couple as their Lead Coordinator for the festivites along with two Assistants. The couple also ordered their invitations, calligraphy and thank you notes from us.
Jamie and Seggie chose the perfect location to host their Detroit nuptials. The Masonic Temple was a beautiful backdrop to their wedding, which they described as having a unique vintage inspired theme combined with each family’s different cultural traditions. The YTB team of Melissa and assistants Emily and Kimberly were there to make sure the couple’s vision became a reality.
As both the ceremony and reception were to be held at the Masonic, YTB wasted no time in setting up both the Wedding Chapel and Crystal Ballroom for the glorious occasion. The chapel was set up with bows down the aisle and the center row was tied off with tulle to keep guests from walking down it. When Viviano’s arrived with the flowers, they laid white rose petals and candles which finished off the aisle beautifully. The Crystal Ballroom was set up with ruched white chair covers and black sashes, ruched backdrop, and large centerpieces of white hydrangeas. The finishing touch was the up-lighting that bathed the room in gorgeous color and reflected off the chandeliers to really make the room shine. In memory of Jamie’s mother, as wedding favors, the family made a special donation to the cancer institute of America in each guests name.
As the ceremony began, the chapel lights were dimmed and the room came to life. The bridesmaids wore mint green floor length chiffon dresses that were perfectly accented with beautiful bouquets of ivory, plum and grey jade florals. Jamie was glowing as she waited to walk down the aisle to her future husband. The ceremony was very touching and incorporated elements from each family’s culture. Jamie and Seggie smiled ear to ear as they said their vows to one another and kissed for the first time as husband and wife.
After the ceremony, guests were directed to the Crystal Ballroom where the cocktail hour was held in the foyer while the finishing touches were being made to the ballroom. Entertainment during the cocktail hour consisted of strolling magicians that blended into the crowd and surprised guests with slight of hand. This fun element was not the only surprise in store for Jamie and Seggie’s wedding guests.
The reception began with the happy couple’s grand entrance and traditional Assyrian dancing. The dance floor was packed as everyone joined in on the dance and celebrated with the bride and groom, even hoisting them up in the air and waving sticks decorated with ribbon and beads. It was all very festive and everyone had a blast. As the guests sat down for their meal, they were serenaded by a saxophone and the photobooth set up in the cocktail area for everyone’s enjoyment.
After dinner, the couple had their first dance to the upbeat Sara Bareilles favorite “I Choose You”. After the dances, the second surprise of the night came when Seggie’s Acappella group Straight No Chaser came out and serenaded Jamie with “Make You Feel My Love”. It was romantic and the group sounded amazing as they belted out the tune to celebrate Jamie and Seggie’s love for each another. The moment the dance floor opened the party got started and the guests cleared their seats to pack the dance floor. Traditional Assyrian music was mixed with American Top 40 hits as the night progressed. YTB owner and head planner Tracie stopped by to congratulate the couple and see the finished product of months of planning and coordinating with the new Mr. and Mrs. Isho. Jamie and Seggie had one more trick up their sleeves as the famous Detroit Tigers’ Baseball Team Mascot, Paws made an appearance and everyone was anxious to get their photo taken with him. Before the night was through, Domino’s pizza delivered some late night pizzas to the wedding.
