June Couple of the Month ~ Amelia + Kurtis ~ Hawthorne Gardens
Kurtis and I met August 2011, in the Smith Center at
Michigan State University. Kurtis played football and I ran track at MSU. We
had run into each other a few times before and he asked me to hang out those
few times. However I declined , not knowing what would happen 5 years
later..lol. So again , one day we ran into each other and he asked to hang out.
This time thinking it would get him to leave me alone for good I said,
“ok, come to bible study with me tonight”. Never in my wildest dreams
did I think he would agree, and after that the rest is history. I don’t think
there were too many days you saw us apart after that.
for the Houston Texans and I am a Pure Barre instructor. We have a fur child
Draco, who we spend most of our spare time with.
in Houston. It was a complete surprise to me ,which included a photographer to
capture our special moment , dinner at Spindletop (a rotating restaurant
overlooking downtown Houston) and then concluding with a horse and carriage
ride around the city.
Albion, MI which is where I am from and then our reception is a few minutes
down the road in Marshall, MI at Hawthorne Gardens. The reception is an outdoor
tent venue, perfect for a summer night in Michigan. The theme for our wedding
is champagne glam, so it will be sparkly and romantic. There are 5 bridesmaids
and 5 groomsmen, which include the maid of honor and best man. The girls are
wearing a light petal pink color and the guys are wearing navy tuxes. Gold is
the color of our wedding rings, so we are also incorporating that color in the
wedding as much as possible. I can’t wait to bust out the sparkly table
runners. Since football is such a major part of our lives we wanted to
incorporate that as well. Our cocktail hour has a tailgate theme ,to
include games, such as corn hole and fun finger foods you would find on
football Sundays. Also the flower girls will carry pom poms and the ring
bearers will have little footballs to carry on with the football theme. We have
chosen to do a dessert table instead of a traditional wedding cake, so guests
will have more of a variety. We are having a Photo Booth so that will double as
favors for the guests because they will be able to take photos home. Tracie has
been a major help with finding all of our vendors and wonderful in coordinating
and putting all the final touches together. In other words we are super excited
for our big day, July 15, 2017.
