Winter Weather Dress Styles
Winter weather dress styles can be challenging to find for your upcoming wedding. While some couples get married during the warmer months, with May – September being the most popular time to do so, others embrace the cooler weather by choosing to get hitched during the winter months—and its unique challenges.
The most common focus when it comes to getting married during that time of year is figuring out how to stay warm during a chilly ceremony. Though some of the most popular bridal dress styles tend to favor the heat of spring and summer with its sleeveless, more revealing cuts, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a bountiful of desirable styles for the winter.
Here are some options to choose from when deciding on a dress for a winter wedding:
- A long sleeved dress.
A classic stylistic choice, simply extending the sleeves allows for you to stay nice and warm while also allowing for your stylistic choices to shine through—with there even being options to jazz up a simple sleeve into something more fashionable, such as the sleeves being a layer of beautifully detailed lace, or showing a bit of edge by using mesh.
- Bring on the drama with a dramatic silhouette
One of the first styles typically thought of when one pictures a wedding dress, the elegant a-line silhouette demonstrates great versatility for both the winter and summer seasons. While utilized with less layers and lighter fabrics during the warmer weather, this elegant style can be adapted to the winter through the usage of fabrics such as tulle, chiffon, and organza under the skirt of the dress. Not only do these fabrics help maintain the shape of such an eye-catching type of dress, it is also successful in keeping the heat going out from under and keeping you nice warm (especially if you’re having an outdoor ceremony).

- Embrace the coziness with fur!
Lastly, you can decide to just go all out and embrace the fact you’re getting married in the winter by choosing to bundle up when you make the walk down the aisle by layering your dress with a fur coat or shawl. Not only would it be unexpected and unique, it would also add a beautiful touch of glamor that would be unforgettable in many people’s eyes. Additionally, this extra layer allows for there to be some experimentation with your look—you can make the fur a different color from your dress, or even make it blend in and make it almost appear as if it is one with the dress—there are many routes you could take with stylistic choice!

All in all, when preparing to embrace the cold this winter season, don’t be afraid to go out and have some fun with the unique options you have at your disposal—you might even become a trendsetter and inspire others to follow your lead.
