For example, did you know that the average engagement time is 17 months? Or that 15% of brides will plan their wedding using a wedding planner? Or that average cost for all wedding attire is $2,608?

She also found some other interesting facts and statistics while doing research for this blog:

-Weddings in Iowa and Nebraska are the biggest, averaging 200 guests

-“Lady in Red” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” are two of the most popular first dances

-Most brides have one item that they’ve made themselves, usually programs, favors, or escort cards.

-One-third of those getting married each year have been married before

-91% of brides register for gifts

-Most wedding guests spend betwenn $70-$100 on a gift

-June is the most popular month for weddings, followed by August then September then October

-The top wedding city is Istanbul, Turkey with an average of 166,000 a year. Las Vegas, Nevada is second with an average of 114,000 a year

-The most popular honeymoon destinations are Las Vegas, Hawaii, The Caribbean, and Jamaica

-15% of proposals occur in Decemeber

-99% of newlyweds will go on a honeymoon

-Roughly $40 billion is spent on weddings every year in the U.S.

-About half of all brides will use a wedding consultant or day of coordinator

-The average household income of a newlywed couple is $55,000/year
