Should You Get Married At Home Or Abroad?

Most people don’t plan to tie the knot more than once, so they want everything to be perfect when it comes to their wedding. That can put a lot of pressure on a bride’s shoulders, especially when making big decisions.

One of the things that’s often hardest to decide is whether to host the big day at home or abroad. So, if you want to know what you should do, consider these three elements.

The Budget

It shouldn’t have to, but unfortunately, everything comes down to money. How much cash you have to work with plays a significant role in where you host your wedding.

This factor often stops people from getting married abroad because it’s not just the cost of the venue that couples have to worry about. If you want your guests to be there with you on the big day, you can’t expect them to pay the entirety of their travel and accommodation. You’ll need to cover at least some of their expenses, which, if you’re doing that for each guest, can rack up quite quickly.

A home wedding is less problematic for this because it’s generally more affordable, even if people still have to travel to attend. However, if you only have a few guests at your wedding, the money saved might not be that much greater at home than abroad. So, you’ll just have to consider your budget and, if necessary, think about where you can save money.

The Views

The photos from your wedding are something you’ll probably want to treasure forever, so they’ve got to be good.

One way to ensure that they’re captivating enough is to host the big day somewhere scenic. Plenty of couples believe that you have to go abroad to find some truly breathtaking views, but that’s not entirely true. Yes, there are some stunning locations around the world that would make the perfect backdrop for your wedding. However, if you don’t have the funds to go abroad, the US has plenty of venues that are just as astounding.

Take Grandview, for instance. It’s a wedding venue in Chattanooga that sits atop Lookout Mountain, a place known for its incredible views of the city and the surrounding states. You could capture the most amazing scenic shots for your big day up here without breaking the bank. You just need to decide what kind of views you want on your special day.

The Organization

The closer you are to your wedding venue, the easier it is to organize everything. After all, you don’t have far to travel if you need to check something out or confirm things with your suppliers.

Obviously, thanks to technology, it’s not hard to communicate with people helping to arrange your wedding, even if they’re abroad. However, there’s still a greater chance that things can go wrong, or that something won’t turn out quite how you expected it to, when planning overseas.

This isn’t to say that all home weddings go off without a hitch because that’s evidently not the case. There’s just a possibility that organizing your big day abroad may be more stressful, so you’ll need to consider how you can make it easier on yourself if you do go overseas.

Ultimately, the decision on whether to get married here or abroad is yours to make. There are pros and cons for both situations, and the two of you just need to work out what is best for you.
