Intern exit interview summary from Dominican University college student Estefany explaining more about her time working as a virtual wedding coordinator for You’re The Bride.
Love Weddings
A dashing bride and groom, lovely flowers, a breathtaking cake. Who doesn’t love weddings? Ever since the opportunity for a virtual wedding planning internship appeared in my notifications from the fashion department, I instantly knew that I wanted to participate in this opportunity. I helped my mom plan her wedding in 2012 and I am currently helping my sister plan her wedding, which takes place in January. When I got accepted into the internship, I was overjoyed! I knew that being a wedding planner carries a lot of responsibilities, attention to details, and time management. I wanted to experience what being a wedding planner entails and learn from Tracie Morris, who has a lot of experience in the wedding industry.
Favorite activities
My favorite activities from the wedding planning internship were watching recorded consultations and working frequently on Canva. For the recorded consultations, I would view couples talking with Tracie about their wedding and what services they were interested in. It was interesting to see how every couple had different preferences and a unique setup for their wedding. Additionally, Tracie would adapt to what each couple wanted and would give them extra tips. This really helped me realize that whichever future career I choose, socialization is important and I will be talking to several people. My clients will be a priority and I will adapt to their needs.
Canva
Canva became one of my favorite apps thanks to this internship. Some important assignments I worked on through Canva were a You’re The Bride proposal and a couple’s wedding design template pages. Both were projects that took a couple of weeks to complete. For the proposal, I made three proposal examples and Tracie chooses her favorite. Then, I inserted all the important information she had on her previous proposal template. I added pictures and some reviews from her clients. The project took a lot of editing, but I loved the result! For the couple’s wedding design
templates, Tracie and I included several pictures and vendors that fit their wedding inspiration. From flowers, catering, paper goods, music, everything was included visually for the bride to go over with Tracie. I really enjoyed working on this project, because it brought out my creativity and it made me happy to see the wedding layout through the visual pages!
Learning Experience
In conclusion, I am so thankful I got to participate in this internship and be able to learn from Tracie Morris. I refined a lot of important skills that are needed in school and in my future career. Also, I learned how to balance work and school both at the same time. It is very important to balance stress, because stress will always be around, but
how you manage it gracefully is what matters the most. Furthermore, I hope I can actually go to Michigan one day and help Tracie with a wedding physically. I really recommend this internship to my peers and anybody that wants to learn more about the wedding industry

- What things did you enjoy about the internship?
I enjoyed watching recorded consuls, working on Canva with different and unique templates, and working on Pinterest!
- Do you think it was a valuable experience if so why?
I think this internship was a valuable experience because it really does take you through days in the life of a wedding planner. Also, it helps you improve important skills that are career related.
- What did you learn about wedding/event planning?
I learned that wedding/event planning requires a lot of responsibility and attention to every detail. You always have to be on top of things, but once you see the final wedding, you feel great!
- What was your favorite part of the experience while interning at You’re The Bride?
My favorite part was communicating with Tracie daily either through email or Voxer. Also, being able to put together creative projects for weddings was my favorite!
- What did you dislike about the internship?
Honestly, I enjoyed every part about the internship. Sometimes, I would feel a little bit of pressure with balancing school, work, and the internship, but I would figure out a way to balance it. I know stress is part of every career.
- Do you have any suggestions on how to change or make the internship better?
I thought everything was great. I can’t think of anything else to add.
- Do you have any plans to either become a wedding or event planner while working for someone else or starting your own wedding business?
I currently don’t have any plans, but who knows, maybe in the future! But for sure, I do want to have my own business of whatever I decide to focus on.
- Are you interested in working any weddings with YTB as an Event Assistant in the future to gain more experience for a day rate of $125?
Yes, I am interested.
- Are you interested in assignments as needed for a flat rate per assignment? This could be preparing wedding blogs, working bridal shows, similar tasks that you did during the internship, etc.*Of course this is on an as needed basis depending on how busy I am in the future and how soon I am able to start the next interns*

All I can say is that this was a memorable experience and I learned so much! I am so thankful. Tracie is a great certified wedding planner and she knows so so much!
