Prepping Your Skin Before The Big Wedding Day

 

 

There are many aspects of a wedding that you don’t have to plan too far in advance for – the flowers, the cake and even the wedding dress, but there are certain things that you need to prepare for. Preparing your skin for the wedding day means taking some time to determine your natural skin type and texture. This will make the process of the actual day easier on you and the makeup artist and will also help to ensure that your makeup stays throughout the celebrations. Book a makeup artist that has plenty of bridal work under their belt and enjoy the last few months of your life as a Ms.

In addition, consider the weather – will it be warm and breezy or will it be cold and snowy? Winter brides usually need to think more about prepping their skin for the big day, with a stronger moisturizing cream, whereas summer brides should go for longer lasting, non-greasy products which will not get sticky easily and therefore are harder for the skin to sweat away.

So what are the three absolute musts for prepping your skin for your wedding?

Exfoliate Weekly

Start prepping your skin 2-3 months before the wedding to help it shed dead cells and look its most radiant. We recommend looking for AHA and BHA in the ingredient list. These acids are gentle and are not too harsh on your skin.

Make sure to follow up with a calming moisturiser.

Take care of the lips

While taking care of our skin before the big day, we often forget about the lips. To make sure we have the softest and freshest lips for your groom, use a quality lip scrub and apply lip balm every night before you go to sleep. Try to avoid matte lipsticks as they can be very drying and cause flaking.

Get proper sleep and nutrition

Perhaps the most important and often trickiest rule to abide by is getting the right amount of sleep and well-balanced diet. These two staples are quite connected as well.

For your best night’s sleep, try to eat a diverse diet that has lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, non-fatty proteins and whole grains in it.  B vitamins will help you regulate your sleep cycle.  Stay away from sugar and processed foods as much as possible as they can cause breakouts. Lastly, drink plenty of water throughout the day!
